With the IMS Asia-Pacific just three weeks away, the International Music Summit [IMS] is unveiling the first 25 speakers of its second Asia- Pacific edition in Singapore.

The IMS – the world’s most influential electronic music summit – will be held at the W Singapore – Sentosa Cove on Dec 11, and it is in partnership with Asia’s largest outdoor electronic dance music festival ZoukOut that will take place on Siloso Beach at Sentosa on the same day.

The theme of the 2015 summit, Bridging the Gap, continues the same mission to bring these distant and vastly different cultures closer together under the electronic music industry.

IMS expanded to Singapore last year to cultivate the conversation in this rapidly emerging market and also bridge East and West.

IMS is co-founded by BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix fame, Pete Tong. The first line-up of speakers of the upcoming summit comprises artists and top executives in the music industry from around the globe, who will drive and inspire the IMS audience.

Global name Kaskade, one of the biggest American DJs whose dominance of North America helped transform the global market for EDM; Sharam, one half of the Grammy award-winning duo, Deep Dish; Richie McNeill of Beatport in Asia and Australia; British artist manager and author Simon Napier- Bell; Mark Lawrence of Association For Electronic Music; and Ryan Saltzman of Bullitt Bookings in North America, are just some of the names from the diverse list of speakers.

On Dec 11, the global and local leaders will take to the summit stage in panels, keynote interviews and speeches.

IMS Co-founder Ben Turner says: “The feedback from IMS Asia-Pacific year one was incredibly positive so we’re delighted to be returning to W Singapore – Sentosa Cove next month. After the recent success of the inaugural IMS China in Shanghai, we’re putting a huge focus and emphasis on this region.”

He adds: “IMS Asia-Pacific is about the whole Asia- Pacific market so a broader discussion will take place. High-level networking, inspiring content, and the chance to keep learning about this great landscape for the music we live and love.”

The IMS speakers will come together in distinct panels to spark thoughtful conversations, and tackle vital and current topics that impact the region. Details of the topics will be announced soon. With some 30 artists and industry players expected at IMS AP 2015, the event serves as a perfect opportunity to unite the industry, as well as to educate the wider world about the opportunities, challenges and current successes of the region. The Asia-Pacific summit is expected to draw 350 delegates from around the region and beyond.

W Hotels continues to be a complementing sponsor of IMS after serving as the home of the inaugural IMS Asia-Pacific last year. Additionally, W Hotels has also supported the summits at Ibiza and Los Angeles, proving their distinct and persistent interest in supporting the electronic music industry.

Arnaud Champenois, the Asia-Pacific Senior Brand Director for W Hotels, St. Regis, The Luxury Collection and Le Méridien adds: “Music is an integral part of the W lifestyle, and our partnership with IMS Asia-Pacific allows us to continue to bring what’s new and next in music to our guests at W Singapore – Sentosa Cove.

“This year, we are also excited to debut Hasnor Sidik [DJ Mr. Has] as our Music Director for W Hotels in Asia-Pacific. Mr. Has will play a key role throughout the IMS Asia-Pacific summit by engaging in compelling dialogue with industry leaders while representing W Hotels.”

IMS aims to educate, inspire and motivate through the thought leadership platform dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, electronic music – the artistry related to DJ-ing and all related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of summits and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of the genre to art and culture worldwide.

IMS began in Ibiza, the Mecca for electronic music. The island off the mainland of Spain is regarded as the No. 1 destination to experience new music and to catch the biggest global DJs. The island’s population of 85,000 increases to more than 300,000 during summer. IMS is timed annually to the opening Summer weekend of Pacha, Space, Ushuaia and DC10, where as many as 20,000 partygoers invade the island for the summer’s lift-off.
